Reporting to the Vice President of Construction, the Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager with management of the redevelopment of market-rate and luxury properties in the assigned territory. The Project Engineer, working with a project team, will be responsible for specific aspects of the redevelopment process including acting as the Owner’s Construction Representative overseeing and monitoring project activities to insure that projects are completed within prescribed schedules and budgets, in compliance with Aimco policies and procedures, and in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

General Responsibilities:

Among other duties, the Project Engineer will assist with:

  • Communicating with design team and reviewing drawings
  • Preparing budgets and estimates
  • Communicating with vendors and contractors
  • Conducting project meetings
  • Developing, managing & enforcing construction schedule
  • Writing contracts
  • Learn software and company procedures for managing projects
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Typical Duties:
Perform or assist in:

  • Maintaining records and logs (including, but not limited to phone, drawing, sketch, contract, etc.)
  • Developing, monitoring and evaluating cost, submittal, schedule and RFI reports
  • Completing RFQ and bid packages
  • Developing and following a look ahead schedule
  • Preparing and archiving meeting minutes
  • Daily site visits
  • Material quantity take offs and cost estimating
  • Participating in contractor and Aimco meetings
  • Preparation and delivery of close out and owner’s manuals
  • Other duties as assigned

In addition, this individual will be responsible for working within a cross functional internal team including business partners from our Development and Operations teams. The position is a highly visible role working closely within Aimco’s team.

Our successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in construction project management or development. Our ideal candidate will have occupied multifamily residential redevelopment experience with a proven background managing projects from concept through completion. A strong technical background is critical for the role.

Our candidate must be a confident communicator with the level of presence necessary to present and influence project team members and high level business unit leaders. He or she must also possess a Bachelors degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or Engineering.
